The lift however, does not apply to the Galaxy tab 10.1 until Apple comes up with arguments.

As the patent expert Florian Mueller, in his Patent Blog declared that there could be jumping at this issue further and forth.

The date given to Apple by the court is 12th for a response to decide whether the smartphone can be sold during the further course of the trial.

Apple goes to the providers of the sites selling access to iOS 6 online. As the specialist service MacStories reports, half a dozen of such services have been shut down in just a week’s time. Apple sent warning letters to copyright under U.S. law DMCA, some of these warnings were sent directly to the hosting service provider companies. The traders took advantage of the gap in Apple’s developer program, which enabled each developer account to unlock up to 100 devices on a beta version of IOS. This numbers stands enough for entering the identification number of the devices, called UDID in a list.

Users can buy this authority for a price of $ 10 or more sold on the Web. Apple was already at iOS 5 partially taken against such rogue traders. The providers and Web Host with their customers have been shut down due to the infringement claim by Apple. The UDID can be queried with every major update.

After the issue of defected binary files being received in the past week, Apple has now corrected the fault and updated the applications for download. By far, the users had to delete the apps completely and start from scratch as there was no alternative. The greatest disadvantage in doing this was that users could have their data taken from devices, such as from a lost phone.

Apple’s update method is soft: it only exchanges the defective program data and lets the user data rest alone. A new updated version of the apps would use App Store’s internal mechanism to show the corrected versions of the program as an upgrade to IOS devices. For Apple, the method has also another advantage: Negative App Store with single star ratings, which had caused the problem in the masses, would disappear from the home page of an app. The reason: They are classified as a comment on an earlier version.

"IPad mini" arrives at the Foxconn site Jundiai in the state of Sao Paulo

According to a report by Japanese Mac site Macotakara, based on “reliable Chinese sources” claims, “IPad mini” arrives at the Foxconn site Jundiai in the state of Sao Paulo and further claims that the tests of 7-8 inch device with CNC machines has been completed in Asia, and the actual production stands now in Brazil.

It is unclear what the rumor says – as Apple currently uses the Foxconn plant in Brazil, especially to avoid high import duties in the country and since the orders for equipment from China stands busy. For benefits the production stays there, especially for the American market, because the transport distances are shorter. Macotakara believes that the production would start in September, confirming the availability of the devices for the Christmas season. Currently, another report claims the arrival of iPad Mini to take place in October.

So far, Apple is the only contract manufacturer of its Brazilian plant for the production of older model lines as iPhone 4 or iPad 2.

Protect your system fron DNS changer

Thousands of Internet users could start Monday with a nasty surprise: If the computer with malicious software, DNS Changer, gets infected; access to the network will be severely limited. The ones who have not checked their devices should now act on do checking them. Worldwide calculations as per the estimates of U.S. security experts, around 300,000 Windows and Mac computers are infected by the pest (Background at heise Security).

Users can use the Sites www.dns-ok.de or dnschanger.eu to check their device themselves. Those who would call the address with an infected computer will receive a warning and recommendations for removal of malicious software. After the deadline, only those sites will be accessed who’s IP addresses would be entered, so as to heise.de 193.99.144.85.

Due to pest, the network configuration of computers and routers manipulated and the requests of users were redirected to other sites – to harvest credit card data. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation broke the fraud scheme and established a transitional self-server, which could send to the infected host for their inquiries. This however, now will now be switched off.

On the Mac, the files in OS X 10.7 Lion hiding in the user library folder in the “Mobile Documents” to find.

The user interface of the iPhone version has been adapted with the update to the iPad, and will make the scanning process easier. The app, which supports the document matching by Dropbox and Evernote, costs 5.50 euros and requires at least iOS 5.0. The update is already available since Wednesday, but was one of the Pro scanner apps from the App Store Problem were affected and therefore fell under the circumstances after the update from. This should now no longer be the case since the problems to Apple self reported has resolved

When the Mac scene really noticed was that there was a trojan called “Flashback” is that much as 600,000 computers had been infected (see analysis at Mac & i online via web code). It was the first attack on an Apple operating system to a greater extent. Although he addressed to no harm, but demonstrated that OS X is not untouchable. Only the criminals have so far hardly been interested, the market share was too small. Security experts agree that it is still rare Mac malware are, but the threat will grow – and that Apple is making far too little about it (see Mac & i Issue 1).

A god send for manufacturers of virus scanners, trying for some time to persuade and Mac users to buy their products. On Windows, it is irresponsible to have installed a protection program.

Currently, more than a dozen vying for the attention of antivirus Mac owners, from industry giants such as Symantec or Kaspersky and lesser-known producers like Dr. Web or Panda Security. Almost all of them can demonstrate years of experience in the fight against Windows viruses, but Intego has specialized from the beginning to the Mac.

In the selection of test candidates was important to us that in addition to a manual virus scan thrusting (On Demand) also has a background in the growing real-time protection (on access) dominate. Virus scanners that are available in the Mac App Store can not afford it due to strict rules: Apple Mac App Store is forcing all the products listed in a sandbox, which prevents the real-time protection, and also prevents automatic signature updates.

The cross-platform solution for free ClamXav always lags somewhat behind the development, which is reflected in comparatively modest recognition rates on both Windows and Linux. Therefore, it can cut any better on the Mac – an exclusion criterion. Were widespread and also free Avast AV software, we do not take into account because at the time of testing was not operational. Although the application was installed, but then reported an error and refused to updates without a virus scanner does not make sense.

Six representatives were left: two free – Avira Mac Security and Sophos Anti-Virus – and four commercial, namely the Norton Internet Security Suite 5, Symantec, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011, Virus Barrier X6 Intego and Dr. Web Anti Virus for Mac OS X – So by that same manufacturer that made in April on Flashback attention.

Externals

Most AV programs are different from the usual starting with Mac OS X operating standards. They use very little or not at all about the menu bar. Symantec is there only to links to various web services and the quarantine dialog. Nor can the program settings via the standard keyboard shortcut “Command +,” call. Instead, it sends error reports to Symantec.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 lays on top of that no icon from the Dock, which initially irritated. The user can see only an inconspicuous menu let that the protective function is active. The small program window with all options and reports is available exclusively through this mini-icon. An eye-catching graphic informs the user about the security and update status. The program settings, despite the wealth of functions neatly arranged.

The warning in the colors black and yellow held security suite Norton Internet Security from Symantec has five less ordered. On three main windows, the distribution of configuration options for firewall, virus and Web protection. If you call an additional quarantine, history, and connection protocols, it can quickly become confusing if the many windows. About a module in the system preferences does one determine which functions should provide the context menu of Menu lets. The activation of all protective functions in the test led to system crashes reproducible. The firewall took her job so seriously, that suddenly a few minutes after enabling all incoming and outgoing connections were eliminated. Only after a restart we were able to establish network access protection by disabling this function.

Avira Security Mac is Apple’s GUI guidelines at best, but also offers the lowest setting. Status report, scheduler, reports, and update management actions are summarized in a window whose size can not be changed. There is also a dialogue that provides a few basic settings for update notifications, virus scanning and real-time protection.

Intego Virus Barrier X6 almost kills the user function with concentrated wealth. The security suite provides information about running scans in a window, the update status, possibly located in quarantine files, easy to configure the firewall mode and other security related processes. Configuration options for the various safety aspects are accessible via tabs. Storable profiles allow quick switching between different settings. In addition to program-specific features, the suite also has a graphical console access to tools such as whois and traceroute. However, it also creates Intego not hold together all the configuration options in a window. In the dialog jungle is all too easy to lose track.

Sophos Anti-Virus Avira is the next simplest candidate of the round of testing, there is little to adjust, so you’ll never get lost. His money earned by the manufacturer with security solutions for enterprises, the administrative functions for scanning multiple hosts are therefore subject to the licensed version.

Although we had turned it off, bugged Dr. Web anti-virus in the test is repeated with audible alerts in a retro sound. The program settings are but a clear, modern and graphically well adapted to Mac OS X. Functions are easy to find and search results are displayed graphically.

Recognition performance

To date, about 2,000 Mac-compatible malicious programs are known, which can be assigned to a large extent a few families of malware. But make no longer any pests that ran at some point on any OS X system on OS X Lion still a threat in our virus tests they played still a role, because, of course, not all users with the current system.

Our tests we have conducted in cooperation with the Magdeburg AV-Test GmbH, an independent security service. The experts provided us with 443 Mac pests are available, which we packed on a USB stick, which we could scan the disabled virus scanner with real-time detection. Should be recognized pests delete it immediately.

The collection consisted of 19 mutations to date virus strains and those pests that can be ascribed to any malware family. It also contained a contaminant from the year 2003, the AV vendors do not denote as a threat, but all other tests. Each pest of our zoos malware has been detected from at least one test candidates. With 169 descendants turned alone Flash back more than a third of the collection. The selection of pest we have frozen to stand April 2012. The test candidates were allowed to be updated until mid-May. The temporal lobe, we gave the AV developers left us with a detection rate of nearly 90 percent expect, as it is now standard on Windows systems.

The Shanghai-based company Zhi Zhen Internet Technology has for a Report of Dow Jones Newswires already filed a lawsuit against Apple in June before a court on site. The IT firm sees its own patent for “instant-messaging chat-bot-system” Xiao Bot hurt by Apple’s language assistant Siri. The aim of the action is there, to prevent Apple’s ongoing patent infringement, a spokesman for the Chinese company – you’ve already turned in May with a complaint to the iPhone maker, but received no reply. According to M.I.C gadget Zhen Zhi himself bothers Siri also a specific slogan on Apple’s Chinese website, which apparently has since been removed.
